The Common European Framework's illustrative scales ( overall written production C1 )

The introduction by the Council of Europe of the Common European Framework for languages means that students' levels of language competence will be assessed according to the six levels defined in the Framework.

These pages aim to build on the Council of Europe's downloadable documentation.

Overall written production.

Written production C1
	Can write clear, well-structured texts on complex subjects, underlining the relevant salient issues, expanding and supporting points of view at some length with subsidiary points, reasons and relevant examples, and rounding off with an appropriate conclusion.
Note: The descriptors on this scale and on the two sub-scales which follow (Creative Writing; Reports and Essays) have not been empirically calibrated with the measurement model. The descriptors for these three scales have therefore been created by recombining elements of descriptors from other scales.
